The hero is blocked by its own party member standing in a narrow corridor
Walking into a friend who has stopped in a doorway should not leave you stuck, but walking into a stranger must still block you. And the rest of the line must not jump about. Here is the rule for trading places, which tiles count, and what happens to the others behind.
Why this works
Friends can pass each other, and nobody is a wall to their own side. Letting two characters trade tiles frees the way without moving anyone else, and since the tile just left is empty, the swap is always safe.
When not to use it
Do not allow it when position carries meaning, such as a formation with a tank in front, or when party members take real space and should block passage. Then make the player walk around or choose a new order in a menu.
