Spielerando

Do players walk into each area too weak, too strong, or about right?

The level you planned for an area and the level players really bring are rarely the same. This entry shows how to compare them so that later visits by stronger players do not hide that the early ones struggled.

Why this works

The first visit shows how a player approached an area. Every return comes later and stronger, so counting all visits makes any area look easier than it was for those who met it first. Comparing the first arrival with the level you planned shows where the game sends people unprepared.

When not to use it

It makes no sense for open worlds where players are free to arrive at any strength on purpose, or for areas meant to be revisited at once. And a planned level that was changed during testing needs a note, or the numbers are measured against the wrong target.
