Spielerando

A trap or pressure plate that fires twice, or not at all, when the hero dashes over it

Triggers checked once per frame against the tile the hero stands on fire again and again while it stands there, and miss a plate entirely when a dash or a lag spike jumps from one side to the other. Here is how to list exactly which tiles a move crossed so each is entered once.

Why this works

A plate cares that something went over it, not where the hero was at the moment of looking. Listing every tile on the way catches a fast crossing exactly once, and firing on entry means standing still does nothing.

When not to use it

Do not use it for a plate that works as long as something stands on it, like a door that stays open under a weight. There the question is whether anything sits on it now, so check the tile each frame.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "A trap or pressure plate that fires twice, or not at all, when the hero dashes over it" (read_entry rpg-fast-hero-misses-pressure-plate) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
