A fighter steps up to its target to strike and returns to exactly where it stood

In turn-based fights the attacker usually dashes forward, hits and goes back. Done by adding up small moves, it ends a little off its spot after a few rounds, or runs into its target. Here is a way to shape the motion so the hit lands at the right moment and the return is exact.

Why this works

Where the fighter is follows from how far into the move the clock is, not from what happened a moment ago. Nothing is carried over, so no small error can pile up, and the end of the move always lands exactly on the starting spot.

When not to use it

Skip it when the fighter can be pushed, slowed or interrupted halfway: a fixed path ignores that and snaps the fighter back wrongly. There, steer toward the home spot from wherever it currently stands.
