My AI says it added twelve items and changed nothing else, how do I check that
After a big edit the AI sums up what it did in a sentence, and the sentence is often a little off: a renamed item counted as new, a changed number not mentioned. Your AI can compare the list before and after and set the real counts against the claim.
Why this works
A summary is written from memory of intent, while the lists hold what happened. Counting added, removed, renamed and changed entries from both lists and holding the claim against them finds the gap in seconds.
When not to use it
For files that are mostly prose, such as dialogue, count lines changed instead; entry-by-entry comparison needs data with stable ids.
