Spielerando

Accept typed riddle answers in many spellings without accepting wrong ones

A player types the right answer with a capital letter, an article, a digit instead of a word or a missing accent, and the game says no. The opposite error is worse: a typo rule that lets a different wrong word pass. Here is the matching that gets both right.

Why this works

Two mistakes hurt: refusing a right answer for how it was typed, and accepting a wrong one that happens to look similar. The first is cured by writing both sides the same plain way, the second by trusting a typo only when it points clearly at one answer.

When not to use it

Skip the typo allowance when answers are short, close to each other, or when exactness is the puzzle itself, like a password or a spelled-out code. Use a pick-from-a-list answer there, which cannot be mistyped.
