Make the respawn wait longer after repeated deaths and protect the arrival

A fixed respawn time is dull when you die once and a punishment loop when a spot kills you again and again. Here is a wait that grows with a streak of deaths and resets after calm, plus a protected arrival that ends at the right moment.

Why this works

Waiting is a cost, and the right cost depends on the situation. A quick return keeps a player who just slipped in the game, while a longer pause after many deaths in a row gives them a moment to think and stops them from charging in again.

When not to use it

Do not use it in games for beginners or children, or in a hard game where retrying fast is the fun. Then let players come back at once and make the cost something else, such as a lost item.
