Actions done offline are sent back later and some of them no longer make sense
A player keeps playing on a train with no signal, and when the game reconnects it has a long list of things they did. Here is how the server checks that list one by one, which parts it believes, and why a refused action must not stop the rest.
Why this works
A device can say what the player did, but only the server can say what that was worth. Sending intentions and letting the server judge each in order, with its own prices and records, stops invented results while honest play still goes through.
When not to use it
Wrong for a game played alone on one device where no one else is affected, and for offline play with a long list of dependent actions. There, trust the device and keep the save local, or ask people to go online first.
