Spielerando

Make a rare drop get likelier the longer it stays away

A one percent drop means some players wait a few kills and others a few hundred, and the unlucky ones quit. Raising the chance as the misses add up keeps the thrill and ends the worst streaks. This entry shows how to ramp it and how to promise an upper limit.

Why this works

A fixed small chance treats every try as brand new, so long dry spells are normal and cruel. Raising the chance with each miss keeps the early tries as exciting as before and turns the endless tail into a limit the player can count on.

When not to use it

Skip it when the item is meant to be a true once-in-a-lifetime trophy, or when players can run many characters or tables at once: a promise gets exploited then. Use a plain low chance, or a shop where collected tokens buy the item.
