A free "unlimited lives" gift should pause the heart clock, not waste it
Players love a half hour of unlimited lives, until they notice it ended with fewer hearts than they started with, or that a second gift reset the first. Here is how to make the gift add up fairly and stay honest with the refill.
Why this works
A gift of free play should add to what the player has, not replace it. Time already waited belongs to the player, so while the gift runs the refill wait is held still and picks up exactly where it stopped, and the gift never eats into the waiting.
When not to use it
Skip it if your game has no waiting for lives at all, or if the gift is a rare, short surprise. Then a paused clock is extra work with nothing to protect; simply fill the hearts once and be done.
