Leaving a level by accident or after a crash should not always cost a heart
Players tap Play by mistake, the app dies, or the level fails to load. Some of those deserve their heart back and some are people dodging a loss. Here is a rule that tells them apart and caps the generosity.
Why this works
Fairness depends on what happened, not on what the player says happened. Judging the end of an attempt by facts the game saw, such as moves made, keeps honest mistakes free and makes dishonest tricks pointless.
When not to use it
Skip it when attempts are free, or when a heart is a light cost that players barely notice. Refund rules then add small print for nothing; charge nothing, or charge on a clear win or loss only.
