Spielerando

Find the best peace terms the defeated side will still accept

When the player dictates terms after a victory, asking for everything makes the other side fight on, and asking for too little wastes the win. Here is how to let the enemy weigh each package by how much it hurts, and how to pick the strongest one it will sign.

Why this works

A deal that nobody signs is worth nothing. Measuring what each demand costs the other side, and how much they can bear, lets you pick the best offer they will still take, instead of the best one on paper.

When not to use it

Wrong when the story calls for crushing terms that the enemy rejects on purpose, so the war goes on. It also cannot capture pride or honour that no price can buy. Then let the defeated side refuse by rule, or give them a demand they never give up.
