Decide which story moment plays when the player walks into two at once
In a big open area two story moments can wake up on the same step, and the player gets both talking over each other or loses one forever. Here is how to choose a winner, what happens to the loser, and when the loser should be dropped.
Why this works
When several scenes want the player at once, one must win by a clear order. The losers should not be thrown away just for losing: they wait, unless what the winner tells the player makes them pointless.
When not to use it
Skip it when the scenes can play side by side without clashing, such as a thought and a sound, or when the player should pick which one to start by choosing who to talk to. Then a ranking only takes away that choice.
