Spielerando

Merge two save slots so found secrets and claimed rewards survive

A player finds secrets on the laptop, plays on the handheld, and later both saves meet. One wins and the other's finds vanish, or a reward is paid a second time. Here is how to combine progress so that nothing earned is lost and nothing is paid twice.

Why this works

Progress comes in different kinds, and each kind has its own honest way to combine. What is only ever added is joined, what only gets better keeps the better, and what only grows keeps the larger. Taking the newer save as a whole throws away real achievements.

When not to use it

Do not combine this way when a save holds one story that must stay consistent, like the position in a quest or the contents of a bag. Two halves of a story do not make a valid story; take one slot and ask the player which.
