My lives refill timer restarts, stalls at full lives or can be cheated
A player waits almost the whole time for the next life, opens the app, and the clock starts again from zero. Or they sit at full lives, lose one and get it back instantly. Three small details in the timer cause all of this, and the clock tricks as well.
Why this works
Lives come back at fixed spacing from a start time. Moving that start time forward by whole intervals keeps the leftover wait, and restarting it when the player drops from full keeps the timer honest.
When not to use it
Skip a timer if lives are not part of your game, or if you sell lives only; then keep a plain counter.
