Track hurt arms and legs, and let the excess damage reach the torso

Called shots and injured limbs add a lot of survival flavour, but a leg that can take only so much has to do something with the rest of the blow. This entry shows hit locations, a spill rule, what a crippled leg does to your speed and which hits end the game.

Why this works

Pain has a place, and a limb can take only so much before the rest reaches the body. Passing on part of what is left over makes aiming at an arm or leg a real trade, not a safe way to wear someone down.

When not to use it

Skip it in games with many small enemies, or where a simple health bar is already hard for new players to read. Part-by-part wounds then add clutter, so use one health number and a few special hits.
