Spielerando

Share an item's power budget among its stats so the total stays exact

A sword of a given level should be worth the same as any other sword of that level, whichever bonuses it rolls. Splitting the strength into whole numbers by rounding each part quietly adds or loses points. This entry gives a split that always adds up.

Why this works

Fairness between items depends on the total, not on any single bonus. Dividing a fixed amount by rounding each share loses or invents points, whereas handing out the leftovers one by one makes every item of a level worth exactly the same.

When not to use it

Don't force an exact total when items are meant to be lucky finds, where a few are far better than the rest and the thrill comes from that. Then roll the stats freely and let rarity, not a fixed sum, carry the excitement.
