Make a money counter run smoothly when the game only updates once a second

If the number on screen changes only when the game does its once-a-second sums, it stutters. Guessing ahead between those sums fixes the look but invites two bugs: the guess running beyond what will really arrive, and the number dropping when the true value is a little lower. Here is a way that avoids both, while still dropping instantly on a purchase.

Why this works

The eye wants steady motion, while the game only knows the truth at set moments. A guess that is held back at the next known value fills the gaps without ever promising more than the game will confirm.

When not to use it

Do not predict when income jumps in lumps or unpredictably, such as a rare drop or a random bonus. A guess would show money that never comes. Update the number when the real event happens and let it pop.
