The German version of a line does not fit the text box
A line fits nicely in English and then spills out of the box in German, because the words are longer and some cannot even be split. This entry wraps text the way the box will and lists the lines that run over, for each language.
Why this works
A box has no idea what language it holds. The same sentence takes a different shape in every language, so the only honest test is to break each text the way the game will and look at what is left over, for every language separately.
When not to use it
Counting characters is only a first filter. For fancy fonts, right-to-left scripts or Asian writing, where lines break differently, measure the text in the real game and leave the character count as a rough warning only.
