Let teammates hurt each other by accident, but never kill or grief
Full friendly fire ruins an evening with one careless or spiteful player, and no friendly fire lets people stand in each other's explosions for free. This entry shows a middle setting, with limits that stop one player from wearing down the rest.
Why this works
Players should feel that standing in a teammate's line has a cost, without a stray shot ruining the round. A softened hit that never finishes anyone, with a limit per victim over a short time, teaches care and blocks deliberate harassment.
When not to use it
Skip it in games where friendly fire is the point, such as a hardcore mode where mistakes should cost lives, or in games so casual that teammates should simply never hurt each other. Pick one clear rule: no friendly damage, or full.
