Spielerando

Food that goes bad a little more likely each day: what is it worth?

Fresh meat should be fine for a day or two and a gamble by the end of the week, but a single flat chance cannot give that shape. This shows how to build a day-by-day risk, read off the odds that a piece is still good, and tell the player a fair figure.

Why this works

A day only matters if the earlier days were survived, so the chance of still being good is built up day by day and falls smoothly. Giving each day its own risk lets you shape that fall, which one flat chance can never do.

When not to use it

Skip it when players need a clear deadline to plan their trips, as in a tight survival game. A fixed shelf life, shown on the item, is more honest than a gamble they cannot read.
