Two players' games drifted apart, but when did it start?
When two screens show different worlds, the interesting question is the first moment they differed and who was the odd one out. This entry shows a small fingerprint to log that answers it afterwards without storing the whole game.
Why this works
Drift grows silently, so the end state tells you little about its start. A small fingerprint of only the parts that must agree, logged at regular moments, pins the first difference down to one interval, and the majority view shows who is probably the odd one out without storing the whole game.
When not to use it
It is useless if the screens do not need to agree, for instance when every player has a private world. With only two players there is no majority to say who is wrong. Then keep a fuller record around the first difference, or let one side be the final authority.
