Players' events arrive days late or carry a date in the future
Games played offline report later, and some devices have the wrong date. If you trust every timestamp, yesterday's chart keeps changing and some events land in next week. This entry shows what to do with each kind of strange timestamp.
Why this works
A device's own clock is a claim, not a fact, and your server's receive time is the one time you control. Comparing the two shows whether the claim is believable: a small gap is normal, a long one is a real delayed upload, and a date ahead of the server is simply wrong.
When not to use it
It is not needed when events always arrive at once and nobody looks at single days. It is also the wrong tool when the device's own time is the point, such as habits by local time of day. Keep the device time as an extra field then, and do not restate days you already reported.
