Check that the clue the finale needs can never be missed
A mystery fails when the player reaches the accusation without the one piece of evidence that makes it work, because they skipped an optional room. Here is how your AI confirms every route to the finale carries enough evidence, or shows you the route that does not.
Why this works
A mystery promises that the answer can be worked out. That promise breaks on any road where a needed piece of evidence is skipped. Asking what a player holds on arrival at the finale, for every road and not just the main one, turns the promise into something you can test.
When not to use it
Skip it when missing evidence is part of the fun, such as a game where a wrong accusation is a normal outcome, or the player may solve the case with a guess. Then let the story handle failure and keep the check for cases that must be solvable.
