Spielerando

Let what you can catch depend on time of day, weather and skill

A fishing spot that gives the same catch at noon and at midnight feels dead. Adding conditions is easy to do badly: a spot can end up with nothing to give, or the odds shown no longer match what the player can really get. This entry keeps both honest.

Why this works

What can happen should depend on the situation, and what the player is told should depend on the same thing. Removing impossible catches before choosing means shown odds and real odds always agree, and a fallback guarantees every cast ends in something.

When not to use it

Don't tie catches to conditions in a relaxed game where the fun is just to cast and wait, or where players should be able to plan around one fixed list. Conditions add things to learn; keep one plain table when that learning would feel like homework.
