Spin windmill sails with weight, and never so fast that they seem to turn backwards
A mill that copies the wind speed every moment looks like a fan, and when the wind turns, the sails flip direction in a single frame. At high speed they can even look as if they turn backwards. This entry gives sails that have weight, brake before reversing, and have a speed that a screen can show properly.
Why this works
Heavy sails cannot follow the wind at once, and they stop faster than they start. On screen, a fast repeating shape also fools the eye: if it moves too far between two pictures, it looks like it spins the other way. So the top speed has to respect the picture rate.
When not to use it
Skip it for decoration far away, or a stylised game where the sails just spin at one steady speed. It is also wrong where wind does not matter to the player. Fewer moving parts there means fewer bugs.
