Decide who inherits when the ruler dies, exiles and children included

The king's eldest son is dead, his own daughter is nine, and a younger brother is in exile. Who rules? Players ask and the AI invents an answer each time. Here is a succession rule that gives the same answer every time, with a regent when the heir is too young.

Why this works

A succession rule is a fixed walk through the family tree, so the same tree always gives the same answer. The dead stay in the walk because their children inherit through them, and a rule that is written down stops the story from inventing a new answer each time.

When not to use it

Skip it when the realm picks its ruler by vote, by trial or by the strongest claim, or when the crown is meant to be disputed. Then succession is the plot, and a fixed order would take away the struggle you want.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Decide who inherits when the ruler dies, exiles and children included" (read_entry who-inherits-the-throne) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
