Find the way out of a spreading grass fire before the flames arrive

A fire that spreads across grass is a moving wall. A route that looks fine on the map can end in the flames if the player arrives at the very moment the fire does. Here is how to know in advance which cells are still a way out.

Why this works

A fire moves in a steady way, and the player can only use a cell if they get there before the flames do. Work out first when the fire reaches each cell, then plan the escape against those times; a route that looks short but ends in flames is refused.

When not to use it

Don't use it when wind, rain or the player's own actions change how the fire spreads, since the times are then wrong from the start. Re-plan often in that case, or flee by simple rules, away from the flames and toward bare ground.
