The view keeps scrolling after I switch to another window and come back
Hold a scroll key, switch to another program and release it there, and the game never hears the release. When you return the camera runs away on its own. The same happens with the mouse at the edge. Here is what the game must forget and when, so scrolling only happens when you really asked for it.
Why this works
The game only knows what the window tells it, and a release that happens elsewhere is never reported. So a remembered key is only believable while the window has the focus; emptying it when focus leaves makes the game ask again rather than guess.
When not to use it
Do not clear everything when play must go on without focus, such as a game left running on a second screen with held controls. Then pause visibly instead, or let people toggle a steady direction rather than hold a key.
