Spielerando

Split unequal loot between players so nobody ends up far behind

After a battle there are a few big prizes and many small ones, and a plain taking of turns can give one player all the big ones every time. This entry hands out the biggest prizes first, always to whoever has the least so far, including what they won in earlier fights.

Why this works

Taking turns is fair only when the prizes are equal. Handing the biggest prizes first to whoever has the least so far keeps the totals close, and counting earlier fights means a player who was short last time is not short again.

When not to use it

Skip it when players should compete for the prize, as in a race to grab, or when each prize suits one player, like gear for a class. Then let people claim or use matching rules; an even split would give useless items.
