In which areas do players keep opening the map to find their way?

Opening the map again and again is a quiet cry for help, but short visits make the numbers jump around wildly. This entry shows how to compare areas fairly, and which way of averaging misleads you.

Why this works

A rate needs time as its base. Adding up all opens and all hours first lets a long visit weigh as long and a short one as short, while averaging each visit's own rate lets tiny visits drown out the rest.

When not to use it

Wrong where opening the map is the game, as in treasure hunts or quests that tell you to check it. Also skip areas with little visit time. Watch players enter that area, or add landmarks and ask again.
