Spielerando

A spell that fizzles because the stick twitched, or can be cast while running away

Spells with a casting time ask the hero to stand still. If any stick movement cancels the cast, light touches or a controller that does not rest at zero ruin the spell. If nothing cancels, there is no cost. Here is a rule that cancels on real movement only, with a short grace at the start.

Why this works

What the player means by standing still is that the hero stays put, not that the thumb stays perfectly still. Judging where the hero actually is ignores harmless noise from the controller and still catches real walking away.

When not to use it

Skip it when spells are meant to be cast on the move, or when a cast should be interrupted only by being hit. Then let the player walk and make damage the thing that breaks the spell, so movement is a cost, not a ban.
