An introvert hero tires faster in a crowd and only recharges when alone
A character's social energy should not drop by a flat amount per scene. A party of strangers wears them out far more than one old friend. Here is how the cost grows with the company, why close friends cost less, and what happens at the bottom.
Why this works
For a shy person the strain is not in each face but in the whole room, so every extra person makes everyone cost more. Close friends cost little and being alone refills the meter, which makes company a choice with a price and a refuge a real place.
When not to use it
Do not use it for a hero who is outgoing or draws strength from others, and be careful if it makes shy players feel punished. There, let company restore energy, or let the meter measure something else.
