Spielerando

Find and resolve the last enemy that is stuck in a place nobody can reach

Ninety-nine enemies are down, one is wedged behind a crate or inside a wall, and the mission shows one left forever. Players write angry reviews. Here is how to notice the straggler, help the player look for it, and in the end settle the matter without feeling cheated.

Why this works

A hiding enemy and a trapped one look the same on screen but need different help. Doing the gentlest thing first, and acting harder only for one that truly cannot be reached, saves the player's patience without taking away a fair victory.

When not to use it

Skip it when the level is small and open, so nothing can get stuck, or when hunting down the last enemy is the real challenge, as in a stealth game. Then leave the search to the player.
