Spielerando

12 of 40 testers quit at the bridge: is that a real problem or just chance?

With a small group of players, a percentage jumps around a lot, and two levels with different numbers may be equally hard. This entry gives your AI an honest range for the number, and a rule for when two numbers really differ.

Why this works

A small group gives a rough picture, and the fewer people there are, the wider the range the true number could lie in. Stating that range keeps you from reading a difference into what may be pure chance.

When not to use it

Skip it when the testers are not typical players, such as friends who are kind to you, or when a problem is obvious from watching them play. Then fix what you saw, and save the numbers for a larger, more varied group.
