Spielerando

Stop players from gaining huge offline earnings by changing the phone clock

When a player comes back, the game pays for the time away. Move the clock and the payout can turn huge, negative or empty. This entry shows how to make the AI pay fairly for time away, shrug off a clock that jumped backwards, and cap the reward.

Why this works

Anything that comes from the player's own device can be changed by the player, so the game cannot take it as a fact. What it can do is limit the damage: treat the time as a claim, reject what makes no sense, cap the reward, and always move the marker forward.

When not to use it

This is only a damage limit. In a game with rankings, real-money prizes or a shop, the cap is not enough. Ask a server for the time, and for the outcome too, because the player controls everything on the phone.
