Does a jump really clear a tripwire or a low trap trigger?
Hidden wires and floor triggers are common in survival worlds, and players love to hop over them. Checking only the top of the jump says every jump works, and checking the landing spot misses the moment the feet cross the line. Here is how to test the arc over the width of the feet.
Why this works
A jump is a curve, and the trap cares about the moment the feet cross the line, not the top of the curve or the landing spot. Because the lowest point inside a stretch of that curve is at one of its ends, two checks are enough to be exact.
When not to use it
Skip it if the trap is triggered by weight or by touching the ground at all, like a pressure plate under the floor. A jump that merely passes over it changes nothing, so a simple check of where the player stands is enough.
