Gear that lowers energy cost stacks until actions become free
Players love equipment that makes actions cheaper, and a few of them together can push the price to nothing, or below nothing. Here is how to combine reductions so they stay meaningful, round fairly, and never produce a free or negative action.
Why this works
Players love collecting bonuses, so every bonus must have a ceiling you can explain. Adding them first, capping the sum and rounding the price up keeps each item useful without ever letting an action cost nothing.
When not to use it
Skip the cap in a game where becoming absurdly powerful is the point, such as an idle game or a joke build. There, let the numbers run away and balance the enemies instead.
