Spielerando

Show only four of nine dialogue options without hiding the key one

A conversation can offer more answers than a screen or a controller allows, and cutting the list blindly can drop the one reply the story needs. Here is a selection rule that keeps the must-have options, fills the rest by importance, and leaves the order alone.

Why this works

Players build muscle memory for where a reply sits, and they stop reading long lists. Keeping the must-have lines, filling the rest by importance, and showing them in the order they were written keeps the screen steady and the key one findable.

When not to use it

Wrong when you can simply write fewer options, which is often better than hiding some. Cut at the source first; use this only for conversations that truly grow wide, such as a hub with many topics.
