Spielerando

The ability is ready on my screen, but the host says it is still cooling down

A well-timed button press gets refused by a few thousandths of a second, so the game feels unfair. Letting everything through invites cheating. This entry shows a small allowance that stays fair and does not add up over time.

Why this works

Delay makes an honest press arrive a hair too early on the host, so a small allowance is fair. The trick is that the allowance only forgives the arrival, never shortens the wait, so nobody can bank or farm it.

When not to use it

Wrong when timing is the whole skill, like a parry window or a perfect-block game, where an allowance blurs the very thing being tested. There, keep strict timing and make the client show the real remaining time.
