Decide which save wins when a player used two devices
A player who plays on a phone on the train and on a laptop at home can end up with two different worlds. Comparing times is a trap, because device clocks are wrong more often than you think. This entry shows what to compare instead and when to ask the player.
Why this works
Which save is newer is a question about history, not about time. If one save grew out of the other, it wins without doubt, and if they grew apart, neither is newer, so only the player can say which life matters.
When not to use it
It adds a question the player must answer, which is the wrong cost for a casual game where losing a few minutes does not matter. There, simply keep the latest save, and spend the effort on this only when a world is worth hours.
