A three-hit attack chain where an early button press is not lost
Players press attack again while the first swing is still going, and the game either ignores it or fires the next hit at once and breaks the rhythm. Remembering the press for exactly one swing makes chains feel smooth. Here is what to remember and what to clear.
Why this works
People press a button when they decide to, not when the game is ready. Remembering one early press and using it the moment the swing ends makes the character do what was meant, while keeping only one stops it swinging on after the player stops.
When not to use it
Skip it when every attack must be a deliberate, committed choice, as in slow, heavy fighting games or a duel where mashing should not help. Make the player wait for the end of the swing, and let a clean press count only after it.
