A tester said the level was easy, yet they died fourteen times

What people say after a playtest and what they did during it often disagree, and the difference is useful. Comparing a tester's own rating with their behaviour shows who to believe on which point, and where the questions were unclear.

Why this works

People are polite, proud or simply unaware, so what they say about difficulty and what they do can disagree. Putting both on the same scale and looking at the gap points you to the moments worth watching again, instead of trusting either one alone.

When not to use it

Skip it when you have only one or two testers or when the level is meant to be hard and dying is part of the fun. Then watch the play itself and ask what they felt, rather than comparing figures.
