Do players who accept the bailout loan really quit less than those who ignore it?
A rescue offer for broke players looks great in the numbers: those who took it stay longer. But part of that is an illusion, because people who left right away never had time to take it. This entry shows how to compare the two groups fairly.
Why this works
To take help you must still be there, so people who left at once can never appear among the helped. Compare groups only from a moment when everyone is still present, and sort them by what they had done by then. Otherwise passing time looks like a cure.
When not to use it
Do not trust it as the reason for the difference. People who accept help may simply be keener players, so the result stays a hint. If you want a real answer, show the offer to a random half of players and compare those two halves.
