My character swings at once, but the server says no, and the swing vanishes with a pop
To feel instant, a game plays your action before the server has agreed. When the server refuses (stunned a moment ago, out of energy) the swing must disappear. Cutting it off looks like a glitch. Here is how to take it back gently, and what to do when no answer ever comes.
Why this works
Starting the look at once makes the game feel instant, while the real effects wait for the server, so a refusal costs only a picture. Fading the swing out, rather than cutting it, lets the pose flow back to what the body was doing, and a time limit covers an answer that never comes.
When not to use it
Skip it for actions where being wrong is costly to see, like opening a shop or using a rare item, and for slow games where waiting for the answer is fine. There, show a short pending sign and act when the server agrees.
