Characters slip through the gap between two diagonal walls
Your hero finds a path, but it walks straight through a spot where two wall pieces only touch at their corners. Here is the one extra rule that stops this, and what it costs the route.
Why this works
The map the character sees is made of solid things, but the search only knows which steps exist. A step between two walls that touch at a corner looks legal on paper, so the cure is to forbid that step before any route is built.
When not to use it
Skip it for tiny characters or open caves drawn freehand, where squeezing past a corner looks natural. There, allow the slip, or make walls thicker so corners never touch.
