Spielerando

A parry that is demanding but fair, with good and perfect grades

A parry that opens on every button press is spammed and trivial, and one with a tiny window feels broken on a slow screen or a wireless pad. Here is how long the window should be, how to make up for delay in the controller, and how to stop mashing.

Why this works

A parry is a bet on one moment, so it must be hard enough to mean something and fair enough to learn. Two grades reward closer timing, correcting for the delay of the device keeps it honest, and a wait after each press makes mashing a bad plan.

When not to use it

Skip it when the game is played with slow or laggy connections, such as online, or by people with limited reaction speed; a narrow window turns unfair there. Use a plain block or a dodge with a roomy window instead.
