Set the gold, silver and bronze times from what players really achieve
Time medals picked by feel are either given to everybody or nobody can reach them. Real finishing times give you fair limits, as long as you leave out the glitch runs and wait until enough players have finished.
Why this works
A medal means something only if some people earn it and some do not. Real finishing times show what is reachable by actual players, so the limits sit where effort changes the result, and the outliers cannot drag them off.
When not to use it
Skip it for a brand-new level with few finishers, or when players use routes you did not plan, since skips and tricks distort the times. Then set rough limits by hand and adjust once real results are in.
