Make fights against much stronger or weaker enemies feel right

A low-level hero who meets a mighty monster should feel doomed but not helpless, and a veteran should not get rich from rats. The two directions need different curves. This entry gives both, with limits that keep the numbers sane.

Why this works

Being outmatched and outmatching someone feel different, so one mirrored curve fits neither. A floor on the weak side keeps a brave underdog able to win, and shrinking rewards from easy fights stops players from farming without punishing them for passing by.

When not to use it

Skip it in games where levels should not decide who wins, such as skill-based fights or open worlds where players may go anywhere. There, scale enemies to the player or let gear and skill matter instead.
