Jumping off a moving platform: the character should carry its speed
Standing on a lift or a moving floor, the character moves along. Jump, and either it drops straight down behind the platform or it flies off too fast and cannot be steered back. Here is what to carry over, what to leave, and how it fades.
Why this works
A body leaving a moving thing keeps some of its motion, and the player expects that from real life. But it is a gift from the ride, not the player's own push, so it is kept apart and fades, handing control back to the player.
When not to use it
Skip it when platforms are only floors to cross and exact landing spots matter more than momentum, as in a puzzle that needs the same jump every time. Or when the platform moves very fast: then the carried speed would fling the hero past the target.
